Combining his passion for missions and multimedia storytelling, Marc Ira Hooks has focused his lenses, and his career, on capturing the people and places which have touched his heart. For nearly a decade, Hooks made his home in Europe where his travels took him to more than 30 countries around the globe.
Spending extensive time in Russia and Eastern Europe, he documented some of the various people groups from across the continent and covered the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Now based in McKinney, Texas, Hooks continues to capture the human spirit with stories, photo essays, videos, and street portraits as he paints a cross-section of everyday life and tells the stories of the places and people whom he has met along the way.
For more than 25 years Hooks has created a multi-faceted career in the world of media. Educated at Oklahoma Baptist University, his journalism and storytelling experience includes photography, radio, television, newspaper, video, and multimedia production. Hooks is a Baptist pastor and serves as Associate Director of Missions/Director of Communication for the CBA Church Network in northeast Dallas. He enjoys his many travels and meeting people from around the world. He and his wife, Kellye, have three children – Sarah Beth, Hannah, and John.
