Marc Ira Hooks’ photography spans more than 30 countries and has been published around the globe, both in print and online. His passion for eastern Europe took him to Russia in 2007, where he traveled across the country documenting some of the many different people groups. Now based in Vienna, Austria, his photo essays and street portraits from across Europe capture a cross section of everyday life, telling stories of the places and people he meets along the way.
For more than 25 years Hooks has created a multifaceted career in the world of media. His experience includes not just photography, but radio, television, newspaper, video, and multimedia production. He is an award-winning photographer and writer.
Educated at Oklahoma Baptist University, Hooks has traveled to more than 30 countries on five continents. He specializes in photojournalism and street photography.
In his spare time, Hooks is an avid sailor and plays the French horn with Blasmusik St. Georg – Kagran in Vienna. He also is a Baptist pastor and enjoys his many travels and meeting people from around the globe. He and his wife, Kellye, have three children — Sarah Beth, Hannah and John.
